For many years I struggled with fear of public speaking. This fear started in high school, and over the years gradually broadened into a fear of being “in the spotlight” – giving a speech, participating in group discussions, going for a job interview, and other similar scenarios.
I became a master at avoiding situations I feared, and experienced anxiety and panic at the mere thought of these situations.
However, no matter how hard I tried, there were fear-provoking situations in my social and professional life that I simply couldn’t escape from. I knew I needed proven, reliable ways to cope with these situations and set off on a long and difficult journey to find them.
Speakology developed from what I learnt on this journey and a desire to help people by providing them with practical tools to cope with public speaking anxiety.
